ROBOTIC MILLING OF ACRYLIC STRUCTURES

Robotic MILLING OF ACRYLIC STRUCTURES Saber designs and implements a complete production line for processing acrylic structures for the leading aerospace manufacturer. Acrylic castings weighing up to 500 kg must be removed from the casting tools. A KUKA robot picks these castings from an in-feed conveyance and places them on a granite table where the robot mills the casting from the tooling. Several finishing operations are performed. All castings are inspected by and an array of Keyence line scan cameras. Each casting is graded by the vision system and placed in 1 of 5 pallet locations for pickup. Each casting is identified and labeled via the Wonderware SCADA system. A manual vacuum style lift crane is used to load parts onto the in-feed system.
