CASE STUDY
Thermal Imaging System for Advanced Apparel Testing
Apparel
Client Challenge:
An apparel company needed to elevate their product testing by analyzing the real-time thermal properties of garments. Existing methods were slow, imprecise, and lacked comprehensive thermal data. The company required a solution to accurately capture and log thermal images with corresponding temperature readings in a controlled environment.
Our Solution:
We designed and integrated a custom thermal imaging system. Five ATOM 640 thermal cameras were strategically placed around a mannequin inside an environmental chamber. The cameras, networked via Camera Link to a PC, captured real-time thermal images and logged data. A wireless tablet provided remote control and live image viewing. Thermocouples collected temperature readings, synchronized with the images.
Thermal Imaging System Features:
01.
Thermal Cameras
Sofradir ATOM 640 for high-resolution thermal imaging.
02.
Environmental Chamber
Controlled environment for simulating various conditions.
03.
Data Acquisition and Control
NI LabVIEW and Vision Acquisition Software for camera control, image acquisition, and data logging.
04.
Temperature Measurement
Thermocouples and NI modules for accurate temperature readings.
05.
The Results:
The thermal imaging system revolutionized the apparel company's testing capabilities. It provided precise, real-time thermal data, enabling in-depth analysis of garment performance under diverse conditions. The streamlined image capture and logging process saved time and resources. Remote access enhanced testing efficiency. The integration of temperature readings with thermal images offered valuable insights into the relationship between temperature and garment performance, informing design decisions and product improvements.
