CASE STUDY
Robotic Furniture Display System for Retail Showrooms
Retail Furniture
Client Challenge:
A furniture retailer sought to optimize their showroom space and enhance the customer experience by automating the display of their products. The existing manual process of moving and arranging furniture was labor-intensive, time-consuming, and limited the number of items that could be showcased. The retailer needed a solution that could automate the retrieval and placement of furniture pieces, allowing for a more dynamic and engaging showroom experience.
Our Solution:
We designed and implement a robotic furniture display system. The system featured a KUKA KR180 R2900 6-axis industrial robot equipped with custom end-effector tooling to pick and place loveseat sofas from a vertical peg-board storage rack onto the showroom floor. A 3D safety laser scanner ensured the safe operation of the robot in the presence of customers and staff.

The Results:
The robotic furniture display system transformed the retailer's showroom. The automated retrieval and placement of sofas allowed for a more efficient use of space, enabling the display of a wider variety of products. The system's ability to re-attach sofas after customer interaction ensured a consistently organized showroom. The interactive nature of the robotic display enhanced the customer experience, attracting attention and generating interest in the products. The retailer experienced increased foot traffic, improved customer engagement, and ultimately, higher sales.
